Extra studios and new home for East London Printmakers
Acme has created a further 12 permanent studios for artists on the ground floor of its Copperfield Road building in Mile End. These studios are now fully let and supporting 22 artists, enhancing the existing community of 58 practising artists in the building.
In line with Acme's goal of extending affordable space to other organisations which support artists, the ground floor now also provides a new home for East London Printmakers. ELP is an artist run group which provides professional and affordable printmaking facilities, public workshops and artist residencies. ELP's facilities support over 250 existing member artists and attract over a thousand visitors annually.
To celebrate their opening, East London Printmakers will be holding a Studio Warming at 42 Copperfield Road on Saturday 22 October 2016, between 4pm and 8pm. Visitors can try their hand at printmaking by printing their own tote bag, pulling their own paper screenprint, or using an Albion presses to print a limited edition print on the day: https://www.eastlondonprintmakers.co.uk/gallery/launch-party/
An official launch will coincide with an exhibition in the Art Pavillion in Mile End Park on Thursday 1 December.

Between 1996 and 2012 Acme received ÂŁ3.2m of capital funding from Arts Council England which supported the creation of six permanent affordable studios in London: Copperfield Road, Fire Station, Galleria, Harrow Road, Leven Road and Matchmakers Wharf. This resulted in 186 studios and 12 work/live units in four London boroughs.
