'The Centre' by Aaron Wells.
Aaron Wells has been selected for the sixth annual Chelsea Studio Award. He was selected by Julia Lancaster (Acme Studios, Residency and Projects Manager), Fiona Haggerty (Acme Studios, Residency & Awards Officer) and Benedict Drew (selected artist).
Aaron says of his work, "My practice looks at the ways in which images and film relate to the experience of the real. Through selected observations, images are deconstructed with language, placing them in a tangible and humorous relationship with the viewer."
Aaron will receive a year-long rent-free studio as well as a bursary supported by the Chelsea Arts Club Trust. Speaking about the award Aaron says, "The value of having a studio after graduation and the community of artists and mentoring that come with that are indispensable to any practitioner and I look forward to making the most of the time I have there."
The Chelsea Studio Award is for Final year BA Fine Art students at Chelsea College of Art and Design and was established in 2009. It is one of a number of awards and initatives managed by Acme which aim to bridge the gap between graduation and establishing an art practice. More information can be found on the Residency and Awards section of our website.
