Acme Studios, supporting art and artists since 1972

Governance

Acme was formed as a charitable housing association in 1972 and is an exempt charity registered under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965. Known as Acme Studios, the organisation’s company name is Acme Artists Studios Limited.

Acme is governed by a small, highly-skilled, effective and dedicated board with knowledge of art, finance, architecture, property and the law.

Board

ROBERT BARNES
Robert Barnes is an architect and currently a Senior Lecturer in Theory and Design at University of North London, School of Architecture and Interior Design. He is also a Visiting Lecturer at London School of Economics, Architecture and City Planning Unit.

NAOMI DINES
Naomi Dines is an artist, Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, studio manager of Occupation Studios and a trustee and founding chair of the National Federation of Artists’ Studio Providers.

JONATHAN HARVEY (Company Secretary/Treasurer)
Jonathan Harvey co-founded Acme in 1972. He is Acme’s Chief Executive and a founding member and trustee of the National Federation of Artists’ Studio Providers. A detailed biography can be found in 'Board Profiles' in ‘Further Reading.’

HENRY LYDIATE
Henry Lydiate is an art lawyer and a legal and business consultant specialising in the creative arts, in particular supporting creative arts practitioners and organisations. He has written a regular Artlaw column for Art Monthly, since its first publication in 1976; and is consultant to Artquest, the artists’ online information and advice service. In 2003 he was appointed Visiting Professor at the University of the Arts London.

RICHARD MILLWARD
Richard Millward is a managing director of Rothschild advising companies in UK, Germany and France on managing their banking and their overall debt strategies. He has previously advised on the Private Finance Initiative, advising government departments and private sector companies, as well as property finance in the UK.

DAVID PANTON (Chairman)
David Panton co-founded Acme in 1972. He is Acme’s Director Property Development and has extensive experience of property development and management. A detailed biography is available in 'Board Profiles' in ‘Further Reading.’

TREVOR SUTTON
Trevor Sutton is a professional artist, exhibiting widely in one person and group exhibitions both in the UK and abroad. From 1973 to 2000 he was a lecturer and subsequently Senior Lecturer in painting at Chelsea College of Art and Design. Many of his works are in public collections in the UK and abroad.
