Acme, supporting artists since 1972

Iaspis, Sweden

Iaspis, a programme of The Visual Arts Fund Konstnürsnamden, has operated a residency programme for visual artists in London, managed by Acme Studios since 1996.

The residency has moved to different locations over the years and currently, on behalf of Iaspis, Acme leases accommodation situated in Arbery Road, Bow, E3. Set within a converted school building, the accommodation comprises a large two-bedroom flat with studio space. Iaspis supports artists working with a wide variety of mediums: painting, sculpture, film, video, installation and performance. The length of the residency is usually one year.

Current artist: Carl Palm

Residency awards are open to all Swedish artists. Applications and selection are dealt with directly by The Visual Arts Fund in Sweden. For further information and application details see www.iaspis.com

Between 1996 and 2012 Acme received £3.2m of capital funding from Arts Council England which supported the creation of six permanent affordable studios in London: Copperfield Road, Fire Station, Galleria, Harrow Road, Leven Road and Matchmakers Wharf. This resulted in 186 studios and 12 work/live units in four London boroughs.
