Acme, supporting artists since 1972

Acme Project Space

The Acme Project Space ran from June 2009 to December 2015. It provided an opportunity for those artists who are part of our Residency & Awards Programme and our International Residencies Programme with a public space within which to develop projects, show new work and engage in a critical dialogue with a wider audience.

Adrian Carruthers Award / Chadwell Award

Sarah Poots shares with Rose Davey an interest in the abstract. Remnants of the outside world are more visible in Poots'paintings with recognisable forms remaining in the geometric.

Selected as the inaugural recipient of the Chadwell Award, Sarah completed her Post-Graduate studies at the Royal Academy Schools and moved into her studio in October 2010.

During the award Sarah exhibited alongside other Acme graduate award holders Rose Davey and Amy Gee in ‘The Desirability of Things’ at BEARSPACE in Deptford.

Like Sarah Poots, Rose Davey’s paintings offer a contemporary take on the abstract.Davey’s focus is on the geometric, where proportion, materiality, and surface all refer back to the painting itself. Rose is the tenth recipient of the Adrian Carruthers Award.

‘The past year has been an invaluable experience that has allowed me to continue painting in an environment that is pressure free and adorned with the luxuries of space and isolation.’ Rose Davey, October 2011
