Landis & Gyr Stiftung Residency
Francis Baudevin, born in Bulle, Switzerland in 1964, lives and works in Lausanne. His paintings are developed directly from the motifs of industrial design, utilising compositions found in graphics designed for various products such as pharmaceuticals, logos, signs and album covers. Stripping away the type and other contextual to leave only the graphics, the imagery is enlarged by ten or a multiple of ten and meticulously rendered to become the main motif of his geometrical paintings that blend the legacies of high modernism and mass-culture appropriation.
Francis’ work ha been exhibited widely internationally over several decades and is held in collections such as Fonds National d’Art Contemporain Paris, Franche-Comté, Besançon, Nord Pas De Calais, Dunkerque, Poitou-Charentes, and Angoulême.
