Landis & Gyr Stiftung Residency
Patrick Weidmann is a Swiss photographer and writer based in Geneva. Over the past three decades, Patrick’s practice has moved from exploring photographs as fetishised objects, to an investigation of the sensual and sensory mode of representation offered by the medium. He brings this dimension of the commodities that surround us to the fore in images showing a Jacuzzi, an airplane seat, an electronic circuit, a soft toy, a cross-section of a car, framing the image to accentuate its fragmentary nature, itself characteristic of photography.
Patrick has been the subject of solo shows at numerous galleries and museums, including: Le Bleu du Ciel, Lyon (2019); Galerie Andata-Ritorno, Genava (2018); Centre de la Photographie, Geneva c/o Art Monte-Carlo, Forum Grimaldi, Monte-Carlo (2018); Maison des arts Bernard Anthonioz, Nogent-sur-Marne (2014); Centre de la Photographie, Geneva (2012); Centre d’art de Neuchâtel (2010).
